His Journey
Ben’s interest in property probably began as a child as he recalls trapsing around open homes, hardware, and plumbing stores by his parents on a regular basis, as they looked to upgrade their home and build the next one.
His first taste of banking and finance was during university when he worked casually for the BNZ filing paperwork and helping out as a casual teller during the holidays.
But it wasn’t for a few more years until his interest in property and finance really took off when buying his first home after graduating from university. It was a 1950’s bungalow and very rough around the edges in what was considered a somewhat rough patch of the North Shore of Auckland. Over time, maintenance and improvements were completed and eventually the title was subdivided to make way for a new house next door.
Professionally, he’s always had a desire to help people, and be involved in the community. Before 2020, this was primarily in his capacity as a healthcare practitioner (physiotherapist) and in clinical support roles in allied health. Like many, the covid-19 years turned everything upside down and he decided to take the opportunity to pursue other passions by becoming a mortgage adviser.
Ben now lives with his wife and kids in Riverhead, Auckland.
